Villingen-Schwenningen is a city with a distinctive character shaped by history, craftsmanship, and tradition — and soon, that story will be told in a specially designed edition of Monopoly.

Alpine Editions is developing an exclusive, fully customised edition of Monopoly that captures the unique identity of Villingen-Schwenningen, celebrating both its historic roots and its modern life through the familiar and much-loved Monopoly game format.

Villingen-Schwenningen is known for its remarkable dual heritage: the medieval old town of Villingen with its preserved city walls and gates, and Schwenningen’s industrial history closely linked to clockmaking and precision engineering. From the Münster Unserer Lieben Frau and the Romäusring to the tradition of Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet and the source of the Neckar River in the Schwenninger Moos, the city offers a rich mix of culture, history, and landscape.

The aim of this special edition is to capture the town's historic landmarks, local traditions, cultural institutions, and everyday life and represent them in a playful and engaging way for residents, visitors, and everyone with a connection to Villingen-Schwenningen.

Monopoly Villingen-Schwenningen is currently in development and is planned to be available in stores in time for Christmas 2026.

The classic Monopoly gameplay remains unchanged, but streets, stations, and cards are entirely reimagined using real locations, landmarks, and themes from Villingen-Schwenningen.

Planned features include, among others:

• Cultural highlights including clockmaking heritage, the International Aviation Museum, and local traditions such as Fasnet
